Privacy notice

Last updated: 23 June 2026

TradingBuddy is an educational platform for learning trading, available to users worldwide. This notice explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the control you have over it — wherever you live.

What we collect

  • Account: if you sign up, your name, email and (optionally) phone number, so your progress follows you across devices.
  • Knowledge test: your name, email, phone and score, to run the leaderboard and contact top performers.
  • Usage data: how you use the platform — which lessons you open, the tools and features you use, and questions you ask the assistant — collected to improve our services. Tied to your account if you're signed in, otherwise to an anonymous ID.
  • In your browser: local storage remembers your settings and progress so features work. No advertising or tracking cookies.
  • Payments: if you upgrade to Pro, payment is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.

Why we use it

To run your account, score the test and contact winners, keep the Service working and secure, process payments, and improve our services. Where the law requires a legal basis (such as the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on your consent (e.g. optional usage-data sharing — withdrawable anytime), performing our contract with you (running your account and any subscription), and our legitimate interests in improving and securing the platform.

Services we rely on

Live market data and features come from third parties, each receiving only what's needed to work: Binance and gold-api.com (live prices), TradingView (charts, calendar, news), Anthropic (the AI assistant — your messages are sent to generate replies), Supabase (secure hosting of your account and data), and Stripe (payments). The Trading Bot's Telegram alerts are sent only if you add your own Telegram token.

How it's stored and who sees it

Account data is stored in our Supabase database with row-level security, so you can only see your own data and only the site owner can see across accounts (for the leaderboard and to improve the platform). On the leaderboard, emails, phones and IPs are masked. We never sell your data.

International users & data transfers

TradingBuddy is available globally, so your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own (for example, on our providers' servers), which may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers. By using the Service, you understand your data may be processed in these locations.

Your rights & choices

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Access, correct or export your data, or request a copy.
  • Delete everything — Account → Privacy & data → "Delete my data" permanently removes your account, profile, saved tools and activity. Or email us.
  • Control optional sharing — usage-data sharing is off by default; toggle it anytime under Account → Privacy & data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.

EU / UK (GDPR): you also have the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — and we do not sell or share it. We won't discriminate against you for exercising any right.

To exercise a right, use the in-app controls above or email hello@tradingbuddy.example; we'll respond within the time your law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active, or until you delete it. Test entries are kept only as long as needed to run the contest.

Children

TradingBuddy is intended for adults (18+). Please don't sign up or submit details if you're under 18.

Note: This is a starter privacy notice for an educational project. Before a real public launch — especially involving payments or users in multiple regions — have it reviewed by a qualified professional (GDPR, CCPA, and other local laws).

TradingBuddy is the controller responsible for your personal data. Questions or requests? hello@tradingbuddy.example · See also our Terms of Service.
